Guide: Earning fishcoins

-How do I earn free fishcoins?

Lets start from the beginning. The first thing you want to do is to complete all the stages of the tutorial to get all the coins from it. Then there are some different things you can do.

                    Bobs Minigame
Make sure you visit Bob in Rio Tropical. When you talk to him a minigame starts that lets you pick up 10 coins on the ground. You can do this once a week.

                     Herb
This little fella is at a different area every day, offering you a quest to catch some fish for him. He rewards you anywhere from 2 to 8 coins, as far as I have seen.

                          Achievements
There are two categories here, Local and Global. Just click the little fish to the left of your screen and you can see all the achievements available. Every area gives you 1 coin for just speaking to all the NPC's there, so that one is easy and fairly quick to do. Another really easy one is to collect seashells at Pinheira Beach.

                    Tournaments
Here is where you have the highest potential for coins. The more players in a tournament the more coins you can win. The prices are based on the total entry fee for all players (5 coins per player). Winner gets 35%, 2nd place 25% and 3rd place gets 15% of the total entry fee. So lets say there are 20 contestants, that means that 1st prize is 35 coins.

Referrals
For every person that you refer you get 1 coin per level above 5 that they reach. You find the referral section if you click your profile and then go down to referrals. There you have a personal link that you can give to other people and hopefully earn some coins from.

Three 5-stars in ONE day + WR

So yesterday was by far my luckiest day in Fishao ever. I actually caught THREE 5-star fishes in ONE day, one of which was a new world record!

The first one I caught was the Red Scorpionfish on the Boat on sea tournament. I was using Luck Potion 2, so that helped.

The second one was the Kaluga Sturgeon and this time I was not using any potion. To my lucky surprise this fish was also a new wr. The old wr was 109 cm and the new is 151 cm.

The third 5-star was yet another Red Scorpionfish!
If you get hold of a trinket like a Lucky Potion, Magic Watch or Radar, using them in tournaments is a smart choise.

Lucky Potion is best used where you need experience points (Boat on sea) and also in the Lake run tournament where the longest total length of fish wins, since some of the rare fish are huge (Mekong Giant Catfish).

Magic Watch is best used in the Magic 15 tournament where you need to catch 15 fish as fast as possible.

Radar is good for all tournaments.

Have fun!

New 5-star fish + Radar

Sailfish
Yesterday I recieved a new 5-star fish from the player Weezle. As far as I can tell noone has ever caught this fish before. He caught it on fish during daytime in Seagull Harbor. Nice catch!

Tournaments and coins
Now since there are more and more people coming in to play this wonderfull game, tournaments have become an even more exciting part of it and you have a good opportunity to earn fishcoins this way, if you are willing to "gamble" a little. Remeber, the more players in a tournament the larger the price money is =)

Also, if you need more coins, you might want to check Bob in Rio Tropical. It might be changed so that you now can get 10 coins per day from him, instead of 10 coins per week. Im not 100% certain though, but I was able to go to him two days in a row.

                                     Radar
I'm sure some of you are already somewhat familiar with atleast the existence of the new fish radars that you can buy from the store.

There are three different types as you can see in the picture. Green, white and blue. They work by simply highlighting areas with fish in them , also known as hotspots. The better the radar the more accurate it is and the longer it lasts. Remember that you can use these in tournaments as well, but you can only use one trinket (Radar, Magic Watch or Potion) at a time.

Without radar                                                 With radar

Fishao now open to the public!

I'm very happy that Fishao now took the step out of the beta-phase. Lots of new players are playing now and the numbers are steadily increasing. For the first time today I saw over 100 people logged in at the same time.

So if there are any new players reading this I welcome you to the world of Fishao! =)

Luck Potion 2
I tried one of the new Luck Potions today. I got my hands on Luck Potion 2 and, yep, I was very happy with the results! Or what do you say about a 5-star Mandarinfish? Not bad, not bad at all =D

Running Shoes
A player was also kind enough to loan me a pair of Runner Shoes, the ones you can now buy in the store. And that was really fun. I was running around probably twice as fast =) I recorded a video of it but unfortunately I got some technical problems with the clip, so sorry about that!

The Easter Bunny, Santa, Batman, and...Luke Skywalker?

Anyways...

Have fun! =)

Fishao Updated!

There are plenty of new updates in Fishao today!

In fact too may for me to mention all of them. The smartest thing is if you just log in to Fishao and check the new stuff in the shop =)

There is also a fish market now on Pinheira Beach to the left of the pier. It seems you will be able to sell the rare fish that you have caught. And my collection of those just grew bigger as I caught a 297 cm Beluga Sturgeon in Cool Mountain yesterday. Thats almost a 3 meter fish. But I did actually catch an even bigger fish, a 526cm Hammerhead Shark! Which means I am now #3 in Fishao on biggest fish.

You can sell the 5-star fishes you caught.
I'm not certain what times the fish market is open though. But have a peek every now and then =)

On a "sad" note though I don't have a Fishao rod any longer. It was just a loan and I had to return it today =(

Since I have to buy a new rod now and since I'm pretty broke, it will take a while before I can blog about the new cool stuff in the game. But hang in there guys, I'm doing my best =)

Also thanks for all the emails and messages I get about the blog!

Now go and check out the new stuff if you haven't already =)

Have fun!

Full Moon aftermath August

Firstly, it's not a confirmed fact the the full Moon has an effect on the fishing in Fishao. There was a rumor about it during the full moon of July, but I was not really able to test it properly since I was unprepared with energy, bait etc.

So this month I gave the full Moon an honest try. I could however not be sure about what time they would convert it to in Fishao (if they do). Since full Moon was starting 03:34 (GMT+1) 21 aug, the correct time in Fishao should be nighttime between the 20th and the 21st. But since the calendar simply says that full moon is on the 21st, it's possible that would be converted to nighttime on the 21st.

So what I did was that I cast 200 times on nighttime between the 20th and the 21st, and 200 times during nighttime between the 21st and the 22nd.

Did I notice any difference? Well, actually yes. But it's hard to know if it was simply a coincidence and/or luck. But on the night between the 20th and 21st, among other things I caught three Pacuma Toadfish. And that fish doesn't bite very often. I have only caught it twice ever before. I also caught five Common Dolphinfish, quite a few Red Snappers as expected, and also some other common fish.

On the night between the 21st and 22nd my results where much poorer with fewer bites and simply nothing that special to report. I didnt have as many bites as on the previous night.

So that's pretty much it. Did I catch more fish during the full Moon? -Yes. Could it have been pure luck and coincidence? -Yes.

Full Moon

So tomorrow is full Moon. And I have been preparing atleast a little bit to be able to do some quality fishing. But then I came to wonder about what hours the full moon actually is. Because when I investigated it I found out that the exact time for the start of full moon is 03:34 GMT+1 on aug 21st. Which is in the middle of the night. And it is only a full moon at night when the moon is illuminated. So the question is, what hours have they set up for the full moon in Fishao?

In real life the full moon might not be visible at the night leading up to the 22nd, but only during the night leading up to the break of dawn on the 21st.

Any ideas?

Three Piranhas in four casts!

My Pirahna spot. (click to enlarge)
Of all the times I've been in Rio Tropical I have only caught ONE Piranha, ever! But yesterday something weird happened. I was in Rio at the waterfall. The time was 16:00 (GMT+1) and the rain started to fall. I decided to use fish as bait and then I made a cast close to the waterfall. I got a bite and it was a Piranha! "-Wow nice, thats rare", I thought to myself.

I made another identical cast and got another bite, and it was ANOTHER Piranha! I was like...
"-Wow! what are the chances of that happening?!".

On my next cast I don't remember what I caught, some ordinary fish probably, but on my fourth cast I caught yet ANOTHER Piranha!

So, four casts and 3 Piranhas! Was it pure luck or did I stumble upon some secret on how and where to catch it?

Later that day I also entered the Boat on sea tournament where I caught my first ever Atlantic Bluefin Tuna, which helped me win the tournament!

It was a rather "small" one, compared to the wr which is 444cm, but still a nice 4-star catch!

Have fun fishing!

New 5-star fish!

Alligator Gar
A fun little coincidence: In the last blog update I caught a Gar, and today I recieve a new 5-star fish which is an Alligator Gar, the cousin to the Gar =)

This one was caught in Marshville and the bait was fish.

Thanks and gratz to Fisheur!

I caught a Gar! + Full moon coming up

Yesterday I was doing the Magic 15 competition. I was hoping to catch one of the 5-star fishes. I didn't catch one of those, but EverGreen did! She caught a Payara, so gratz to that! =)

Pretty rare!
Instead I caught a fish I didn't know even existed in this game, a 163 cm Gar! An awesome 4-star fish that took me by suprise. The bait I used was fish.

On another note, the wr for the 5-star fish European Conger, which can be caught in Sibiri, has now been beaten by a whole 59 cm! So gratz to Fisheur and his 233 cm wr for European Conger =)

Full Moon soon
Remember: Full Moon is in four days, on august the 21st.  You might want to start saving coins for energy, rods etc to increase your chances. Perhaps you can catch some rare fish =)

Have fun!

Seagull Harbor

I had been saving fishcoins for several days to be able to get a good rod and a good ammount of energy to be able to have an effective 15 minutes of fishing from the rented boat in Seagul Harbor. When I finally could afford it all my friend actually agreed to lend me a Fishao Rod! Which ment that I now could spend my  saved up coins for buying 500 energy! =)

And I had a successfull time fishing there and  managed to catch two hammerhead sharks. And one of them set my new personal record for biggest fish, which now is 385 cm =)

I will have to return the rod soon though. But hopefully one day I can get my own =)

Have fun guys!

Sunday 11 August 2013

I'm so happy!

So why am I so happy right now? I tell you why, because I FINALLY caught the Mandarinfish!

I had just completed Herbs daily quest and only had only a small amount of xp left to get to lvl 60 and unlock Seagull Harbor, and since I only had a small rod and didn't want to waste coins on a better one, I went to Pinheria to get the xp I needed. My first cast yielded no results, So I went to the opposite side of the pier and immediately got a bite. I was kind of daydreaming and wasn't ready for it, and since it was a "five" the marker in the bite mingame went out to the red and I ALMOST lost the fish! But my brain woke up again and I was able to land the fish (lol). And there it was...the Mandarinfish! I wonder how many casts I made at Pinheira before I caught it...must have been ALOT =)

The xp I got from that fish opened up Seagull Harbor for me. So now I just need to save up to 30 coins to get a silver rod, since the fish get really huge there. I still won't be able to land the largest fish in Seagull Harbor with the silver rod though, but hey, it's the best I can do.

Happy fishing out there!

Upcoming shop updates

Todays blog update I nicked from the forums. Administrator Jin said the following:

"We won't reveal all items that will be launched in the next big shop update, but we'll show at least some of them:"

If you look at the pic you can see that there is  alot more stuff that you can scroll through in the extra-tab than what is currently being shown.

I'm looking forward to this update!

Grid system for Fishao

Clovis Grid system
Sometimes when you are fishing and find a nice spot where you get alot of bites, you want all your casts to land in that same area. To help me with that I sometimes use a grid overlay program that simply displays a customizable grid over the entire screen, helping you to keep track of where you just got that bite.

I use a simple program called Clovis Grid, which is  free and can be downloaded here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/clovisgrid/

It was initially made for another game (SWTOR), but works just as well for other games and applications. I am not affiliated with Clovis Grid in any way, shape or form. I just find it usefull =)

Thanks to KoningRick for sending me a screenshot of the Arapaima he caught in Rio Tropical!

I can now complete the Rio Tropical area in the area fishing guide!

5-star Electric Eel!

Electric Eel
Today I can share with you the first 5-star fish caught from Marshville. It's an Electric Eel caught on fish. Thanks to Fisheur!

On another note, JackBank on the forums is creating a fun little quiz minigame for Fishao. Might be something for you to do while waiting for your energy to recharge =)

You can check out the progess HERE

New 5-star fish & Info about moon cycles

BE-luga

Sturgeon Confusion

I recieved a screenshot of a "five" that EverGreen caught, the Kaluga Sturgeon. However I had a suspicion that I already had that fish on the blog.

KA-luga
I searched the 5-star page and finally figured out why it seemed so familiar. There is another 5-star Sturgeon called Beluga Sturgeon. BEluga and KAluga... =)

Beluga is Aquayama and Kaluga is Cool Mountain.

View Moon cycles direcly on this blog

If you have a look to the right of this page you can see a little gadget that always keeps track of the moon cycles and tells you when the next full moon is. As some of you might know, the full moon may have some interesting effects both in real life fishing AND in Fishao. So from now on, when you need to find out when the next full moon is, you can simly check it here.

Pirahna!

Don't take a swim with this guy...

I have been trying to catch a Pirahna in Rio Tropical for quite some time. I went to Rio today to try and catch Arapaima and/or Golden Dorado, and while I was simply using Insects as bait to find a hotspot, I suddenly got this little chomper on my hook!

Yey!
